Grove Rooms
Steeped in the history of Hobart and Salamanca, the 25sq m Grove Rooms are housed within Moss 39 or 25 Salamanca Place (both built in the 1840s). The original fabric of the building – convict-cut sandstone, cast bricks, exposed beams and bearers – has been exposed for the guests to admire. These rooms feature striking sash windows, double glazing and street views: either Salamanca Place or Montpellier Retreat. The eye-pleasing decor includes handmade Tasmanian furniture, tactile throws, cushions and sheepskins, and a colour scheme in keeping with the Tasmanian wilderness. Photography of the island by renowned photographer Derek Henderson decorates these rooms. Shower-toting bathrooms feature dark-green herringbone tiles and matt-black fittings. Each room has a TV, iPod dock, Huon Valley apples upon arrival and a minibar with local snacks. There’s also air-conditioning, kettle, tea and coffee kit, Grown Alchemist bath products, slippers, iron and board, pillow menu.
